Thingvellir National Park

Located next to Lake Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland, this remarkable national park is home to a beautiful canyon which is the meeting point of two of the Earth’s tectonic plates. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the location where the world’s oldest form of parliament first assembled in 930 A.D. and, over 1,000 years later, on June 17, 1944, the site where parliament members signed and solidified Iceland’s independence from Denmark.

Spend some in the idyllic country setting of this wonderful farm that has been family-owned since 1850, where you’ll taste their famous homemade ice cream.
